Eureka, CA…...The North State Modified Series, presented by Protect the Harvest, will travel North to make its first appearance this season at the Redwood Acres Raceway this Saturday night. The race was originally slated for June 6 but had to be rescheduled due to the covid-19 pandemic

A Friday afternoon practice will be held on the 3/8 mile paved oval from 3pm until 8pm. Redwood Acres Raceway is located at the Redwood Acres Fairgrounds at 3750 Harris Street in Eureka, CA.

Sponsoring the event is McMurray & Sons Roofing of Eureka, who has been in business for over 100 years. Owner of the company, Dave McMurray, has added $1000 to the winner’s share of the purse, bringing the payout to $2000 to win. He is also paying an additional $200 to the first 20 NSMS drivers to enter the race. With the top 10 in points getting another $200 tow money from Lucas Oil, and positions 11-15 in points receiving $100 from Lucas Oil, this “show-up” money is very enticing to the modified competitors.

The Lucas Oil Dash for Cash contenders run for $100 to win and $50 for second place.

The Eureka event will only be the third race of the season for NSMS. The other two were held at Lakeport Speedway with Kyle Tellstrom the winner of the first race over Charlie Collins and Mike Sullivan. Collins beat Tellstrom in the second race with Scott Winters coming in third.

The 2020 points battle is very close with Tellstrom holding a 10 point lead over Collins going into this weekend’s event. Winters trails Collins by nine points, and Mike Sullivan sits 10 point behind Winters. Fifth in points is Darrin Sullivan, only two points behind Mike Sullivan. Two points behind Darrin Sullivan is Cody Braund.

The North State Modified Series will join the local bombers, road runners, legends cars, late models and mini stocks.
